Now for the excuses.....in the past week my best friend had a death in her family, another friend welcomed her first grandchild, my kiln broke and I had to order parts and do the repair myself, I attended a graduation event, a 60th wedding anniversary and yesterday my father-in-law had a pacemaker inserted then suffered a mini-stroke. Yikes.
My father-in-law is stable but in hospital. He is 86 and although his heart is giving him a lot of problems his mind is as good as ever. My mother-in-law is 81 and in excellent health; they still live in their own home which is a large farmhouse and they somehow manage to keep the house and lawn immaculate. The only help they have is that our son goes there once a week after his grandfather mows their 2 acre lawn with a ride-on mower Isaac uses the weed trimmer and hand mower around the trees and flower garden. My mother-in-law bakes every day; pies, bread, rolls and cookies are sent home to each of her "kids" every week and she has a different one of her 5 kids and/or their families for supper almost every night.
It is so hard for her to have her husband in the hospital over an hour's drive from their home and we really wonder how much longer they can stay in their big house. It has been their home for their entire married life (64 years) and all 5 kids were raised there. It is so sad to see people get old and I am not a big fan of change but I guess that is life.
Ok, I didn't mean for this post to be a downer...thankfully my husband is one of 5 siblings and we have lots of family to help out. I'll try to update a little more regularly.
