Yarn Along October 2013

Joining today with Ginny of Small Things for Yarn Along where you post a picture of what you are reading and what you're knitting.  I've started knitting a few Christmas presents including this "Humping Deer Hat" by Alysania on Ravelry for my nephew....I hope his wife lets him wear it.The hat uses the fornicating deer chart by Anne Rutten.  It is fun to knit and will probably get some funny looks when my nephew wears it I'm sure.

I'm also loving this book, it's historical fiction and the story captivates you as soon as you start reading.

France part 2

After 8 days in Provence Scott and I said goodbye to our friends, returned our rental car and set out by train to Nice.  We stayed in Villefranche, swam in the Meditteranean (something I've wanted to do for so long), it was so warm and much saltier than the Atlantic Ocean...I'm not sure why.  After 3 days in Villefranche we took the high-speed TGVTrain to Paris ( 5 hr trip).
The desserts in France were the absolute best...thank goodness we walked about 8 hrs/day
I didn't expect to love the Eiffel Tower so much...I had to visit it twice.

After a surprisingly short wait we took the elevator up to the second level of the tower..and a nice lady took our picture .

I loved the Art Nouveau signs for the Metro..and the accordion player.

Our room in Paris was so girly...kind of felt like staying overnight at your grandmother's.

More tower love.

I loved all the dogs at the cafés .
The following pics are out of order as they were from the French Riviera which we visited before Paris.

The water was such a beautiful aqua colour.

These are just the pictures from my Ipad so I must warn you there might be more when I download the pictures from my camera.

France

We're back after 2 weeks in France and it is great to be home.  We rented a (quite rustic) 300 year-old home in Provence with 3 of our friends.  This is our little rental car on the street outside our rental house.
We drove on crazy narrow roads to markets and little towns in Provence, it was so beautiful.  I had to put the French I learned in high school to use as practically no one spoke English in the parts of France we were in the first week.

The markets in each little town were so fun to shop at, so many delicious local products...olives, cheese, figs, baguettes..and oh, the wine.
We visited the roman aqueduct, Pont de Gard.

And spent the afternoon in picturesque Uzes, France.
The cafés all had outdoor patios...and the best cafe au lait...ever.

I'll update the next part of the trip to the French Riviera and Paris in my next post.
