Run Forrest, Run

This is what it looks like at my house today....I am so over snow...let's hope this is the end of it.

On another note, living in such a small town where everyone knows you is a constant source of amusement for me.  I run 5k two or three times a week on the road by our house....there are lots of senior citizens in the neighborhood and I often wonder if they think I am crazy.  On Monday an older lady was at her mailbox getting her mail when I ran by...I said hello to her as I ran by....a few seconds later as I was running away she yelled "you're doing great dear,"...it made me laugh.  

The following day another neighbor's 7 year-old boy was out playing in the snow in his yard as I ran by.....I said hello...he said "what are you doing?"....so I said "I'm running", then he said "why would you do a crazy thing like that?"...indeed.

Today I was out running when it started hail...I was about 2k from home...three different people stopped to offer me a drive home...small town living at it's best.

I'm still working away on my "Fletcher Mittens", I was stuck on how to finish the thumb last week but after posting my dilemma on Yarn Along, I got lots of advice and figured it out with a little help from my online friends...so thank you!

As for the book...yikes...I just started it and can't put it down.  It's about a seemingly happy couple about to celebrate their fifth wedding anniversary when the wife disappears without a trace.  Did she run away?  Did her husband or someone else harm her?  The chapters alternate from the wife to the husband's story of what happens...I have no idea who is at fault...but somehow I'm nervous...it kind of reminds me of a Hitchcock movie.

Yarn Along

Today I'm participating Yarn Along in where you share a picture of what you are reading and what you are knitting.

I was enjoying the pattern for these Fletcher Mittens until I got to the thumb....I am completely lost and have tried to figure it out but have ended up unraveling the thumb twice so far.  If anyone has knit this pattern and can help me figure it out....I would really appreciate it.

As for the book we are planning a trip to France in September so this book was recommended to me, it has a lot of history but is quite interesting so far.

All on a February Day

We are gearing up for Isaac's hockey tournament this weekend...I swear this hockey season goes on and on...it started in October and will not end until April...but since he is graduating this year it will be his last year for hockey so I'm trying to enjoy it all as I know we will miss it.

In other news we had a relaxing Valentine's Day at home with some pretty flowers from my honey and together we cooked fetticinni alfredo topped off with Bay of Fundy scallops...and bacon, it was so good...but so rich.

I got together with my favorite aunt yesterday for a knitting afternoon and started these Fletcher Mittens which are fun to knit so far.

Finally I finished these "End of May" mittens....and as you can see there is still snow on the ground here so I'm sure I'll get to wear them soon.  Happy Weekend!

Today I took a picture every hour for 10  hours as part of A Bit of Sunshine: 10 on 10.   We are just digging out from a snowstorm yesterday that left us with 12 inches of fresh snow.

Going to the Chapel

Last weekend we attended our friend's daughter's wedding.  We have known Jill since she was 3 years old and I can't believe she is now a wife and mother.  She is a lovely girl, we have been friends with her parents for almost 25 years and have enjoyed watching her and her sister grow up.

The wedding was casual, simple and lovely.  

I made the bride's and bridesmaid's bouquets, it's something I started doing when Scott's  nephew got married 15 years ago...and this is my 10th time doing wedding flowers.  I love it but mostly because I only do it for friends and family...it would probably be a bit stressful if it was my job.

The bridesmaids bouquets were very colorful.

The bride's bouquet was huge with bright flowers like the bridesmaid's and white hydrangea too.

The bride's Mom knit these little wool sleeves to slip over the flower stems.

Scott and I all decked out before we left for the wedding....no, Scott is not wearing a lampshade on his head...my sister never claimed to be a photographer..ha ha

Baby Jane found her parent's wedding exhausting and had to have a cat nap.

This week

On Tuesday Isaac had his university tour, he has been accepted to the Bachelor of Science program at this university.  I dropped him off then did a few errands and when he texted me that he was ready we met up in the student lounge...where I took this picture from the lounge window.  "You have to blog this don't you Mom?"....(you know it son...).  

I attended this university too....26 years ago...yikes.  I hope he actually completes his degree unlike his mother (shhhh..ha ha).  

The university is in a nearby city (only about 30 miles from our home) so he will be able to come home often.  My sister and her husband live in the city and they have an extra bedroom in their basement so he will stay with them like his big brother did.....until this year when he moved into an apartment with his friends.

Isaac is very excited for September to come...me, not so much.  Our nest will be empty...only Scott and I, the dog and the cat....yikes.
